What you should know

This report compares base flow surface water samples collected in 2010 (pre-construction) to samples collected in 2011 (post-construction).

Butte Reduction Works Seep Investigation: During base flow monitoring in the mid 2000's, an increased copper concentration was observed in Silver Bow Creek within two surface water stations only about 200 feet apart, near the upper end of Butte Reduction Works (BRW). In 2007, two new monitoring stations were established and monitored (SS-05.7 and SS-05.9). In 2008, a small seep was visually observed that was sampled and found to contain a high concentration of COCs near the SS-05.7 station. During 2008 and 2009, investigative work began and a remedy was developed by controlling ground water near the stream in this area. After successful study results, construction of the remedy to control the BRW seep was completed in December, 2010. This report compares base flow surface water samples collected in 2010 (pre-construction) to samples collected in 2011 (post-construction).
